THE BRIDGE TO SENIOR FOOTBALL
Competing in the North East Wales Football Association (NEWFA) Reserves Division 2, Penyffordd Lions Reserves play a vital role within the club, providing the bridge between Youth football and the First Team while competing in senior football in their own right.
The Reserves offer talented young players the opportunity to experience the demands of the adult game alongside experienced teammates, helping them develop both on and off the pitch. At the same time, they provide valuable game time for senior players returning from injury, maintaining fitness or continuing their development within the club.
Built on the same values, standards and playing philosophy as the First Team, the Reserves ensure players are prepared for the next step whenever opportunities arise.
OUR PURPOSE
The Reserves exist to strengthen the entire football club by providing a clear pathway into senior football.
By creating a competitive environment that prioritises player development alongside results, the team gives ambitious local players the opportunity to gain valuable experience in adult football while preparing them for the demands of First Team football.
Working closely with the First Team management, the Reserves help ensure players transition seamlessly through the senior pathway, with opportunities earned through commitment, performance and attitude.
OUR AMBITION
Our ambition is to establish the Reserves as one of the strongest development teams in the region, recognised for producing players capable of progressing into the First Team while competing successfully within the NEWFA Reserves Division 2 and beyond.
Through consistent coaching, shared playing principles and close collaboration across the club, we aim to create a competitive squad that balances youth, experience and opportunity.
The Reserves are more than a second team. They are an essential part of Penyffordd Football Club's long-term vision, ensuring local players have a genuine pathway to senior football while helping build a sustainable future for the club.
